Mark 5:34
Daughter, Your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.

Here we have the story of a nameless woman that serves as a timeless reminder that in our deepest moments of desperation, all we need is faith.

All we know about her is that she had been hemorrhaging for 12 years. In Jewish society that makes her as much of an outcast as a leper.

12 years with no contact with her husband.

She was not allowed to touch her children.

She had been isolated from her friends, her family and society as a whole.

She had spent all her money seeking medical resolutions to her condition, but it only worsened.

She had nothing left. No friends, no family and no capital.

All she had was an earnest belief that Jesus of Nazareth could heal her.

If this man was as powerful as people thought he was. If he had truly performed all the miracles that she had heard of, than all she needed to do was touch the tip of his garment.

Even to her it probably sounded outrageous. Her desperation however, caused her to hold on to faith that she wouldn't have had otherwise.

And what great faith it was! especially when compared to that of Jairus which required Jesus to leave his location, come to his home and touch his daughter.

Her faith required no action at all of her saviour.

So she probably disguised herself to walk through the streets until she met with the crowds that surrounded Jesus.

Her faith pushed her to make her way through...until she was close enough to touch him.

Her faith healed her instantly.

"Maybe all you have is a crazy hunch and a high hope. You have nothing to give . But you are hurting. And all you have to offer him is your hurt. If that describes you, note carefully...one person whom christ commended for having faith was a shame-struck, penniless, outcast woman who held onto her hunch that he could and her hope that he would."
