I just had a discussion with a good friend of mine and to say the least I was quite dismayed...

We have got to stop sweeping crap under the rug...Sexual Abuse is very prevalent and very real and it is not warranted and no child nor adult ever deserves it. I've heard too many stories in the Haitian community about how these matters are not addressed.

A parent's response to a child when they inform you that Tonton such and such inappropriately touched them or sexually abused them shouldn't be, what did you do?? Nor, should the final resolution be that you're not going back to his house and don't tell anyone else about this:twisted: Are you kidding me?!? How about jail??? How about we're going to get you checked out by a physician?? How about we need to get some counseling??

By sweeping crap under the rug or not acknowledging such a heinous act doesn't mean that it didn't happen. The child or adult that was violated will always have that memory and will always remember as well that their parents did nothing about it. Especially in this day and age. This practice has got to stop Its not fair to the child nor anyone that was affected...this violation will always have a lasting memory!!!!
