Unprecedented fun to be had at
”The Digicel 13th Annual Haitian Compas Festival”
January 25, 2011 – Downtown Miami, Florida – Bicentennial Park – Keeping with a tradition that has surpassed every goal imaginable, Noel & Cecibon Productions, alongside Digicel are proud to present the The Digicel 13th Annual Haitian Compas Festival on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Since the beginning of the adventure that is today the Haitian Compas Festival, Compas music found a profound platform in which to share its greatness with thousands of fans. This monumental festival has allowed bands from New York, Boston, Paris, Canada and Haiti to step on stage and entrance their fans with brand new music and classics that have helped launch their careers, as well as keep them on top for years.
“When we first began the Compas Festival more than a decade ago, we wanted to give Miamians a place to enjoy our music and to get together for a family fun filled day, but as the popularity of the festival grew, we found that we have become one of the top Haitian gatherings in the world and there are no words to explain how proud we are to host this event every year and open the eyes of the world to our music, our culture and our heritage,” says Rodney Noel, Founder of the Haitian Compas Festival.
Thousands congregate yearly with no hesitation to enjoy the warm Miami sun, to feast in typical Haitian cuisine and to be spoiled by the mass amount of Haitian Compas Music that is featured at the festival. Groups like Harmonik, X-Tassy, T-Vice, Gabel, CaRiMi, dISIP, Kreyol La, Djakout #1, Original H, Jahnesta, 5 Etwal, Nu Look and Zenglen treat music enthusiasts to a grand buffet of their favorite tunes, while artists like Robert Charlot and Cubano remind the newer generation of their pioneering ways through their mastery of music. Solo artists TPO and MikaBen will also add some youthful sounds with their hip hop, reggae, world beat music.
The Haitian Compas Festival is known for adding a bit of last minute excitement and for creating buzz, therefore this year an International Recording Artist has also been added to spice things up and to open the door to a flood of new possibilities and opportunities for different genres of music to be highlighted.
An assortment of Kick-Off Parties and After Parties have been arranged for those locals and visitors coming from New York, Haiti, Boston, Europe, the Antilles and Canada to be amongst the weekends participants. From Kreyol La and Zenglen at Legend’s Café kicking Off things in the right way on Thursday, May 12th, CaRiMi and Harmonik at Club Space for the time-honored Black Party on Friday, May 13th, Kreyol La & T-Vice on the same night for Black Party II at Mekka 950 to the After Party on Sunday, May 15th at Café Iguana’s Pembroke Pines with Nu Look, Djakout #1 and CaRiMi or T-Vice, Harmonik and dISIP at Las Olas’ Revolution Live on Monday, May 16th, the entire weekend is chock full of fun and literally full proof.
