You prove my point, they are not performing because promoters are not calling. Yes they are a talented bunch, their sound is not commercial. At any point of that 20 years, they were never a top band. They did not take advantage of the exposure that they got from the Compasfes and other fes. They are a good band, but they are not among the greats ( Past or present). Their live performances are ok, but not impressive at all.[/quote]

you are so wrong by saying they are not performing because promoters are not calling them, non se parce que fabrice avek keke gin lot prioriter dans la vie an, et ca se yon chwa ke yo fè ki personel, and FYI mizik mizik used to be one of the top bands in the 90's. et a cette epoque promoteur yo te chaud nan ko yo.and you're saying live performances are ok not impressive at all, bon pito nou kiter ca parce que mwen pas kwe ou te konne aler souvent nan mizik mizik.

If you are playing Kompa for a living, you have to be commercial. There is no other genre of Kompa other than the popular one.
You can not compare Magnum and Mizik Mizik. In the 80's Magnum had a commercial sound, they were popular on all the markets.
As far as Fabrice and Keke don't have enough time to perform with the band, that's bs. It's been almost 5 years since they produce a CD, may be they should talk to Richie.

Haven't you seen/heard of what Fabrice/Keke did these past 5 years???? Ever heard of haiti twoubadou, ever heard of Belo, Alo Haiti, Soley Sound...These guys are busy diversifying our music and you're coming up on km undermining that fact!!!!

I suggest you read up on your facts before you start bs..ing.

In the 90s, Mizik Mizik had the commercial sound.....bal neg yo toujou chaje...si ou pat Danse Mizik Mizik pou fin d'annee ou pat sou anyen.....

Here are a few songs to check out::: le nap fe lanmou, alfredo, irvington, blackout, danse ploge, farinen, webe.....check out their carnival:::de ger...to name a few....better yet check out the live version of these songs!!!

Everybody wanted to sound like these guys....ban deye neg yo se pat pale...le neg sa yo ap fe break nan bal...se tet chaje....Le keke jwe gita nan Webe a, mezanmi se tet chaje...

Even when they interpreted other people's song, people loved it.....check out blese by eric virgal....caroline...to name a few....

They've influenced a lot of bands...including kdans' first album (Nap Chill)

I can only laugh at your statement taht mizik mizik is not a great band Laughing
Bro, al repase konpa ou tande. Mizik mizik is a combination of magnum and caribbean sextet. So, si ou pa konin djazz sa yo, ou gin dwa gin difikilte pou konpran sak mizik mizik la wi.
If you are talking about performances, i remembered that fabrice said it himself that " some promoters would want him to come with a keyboard and two or three musicians to play like a digital band and he has opposed to taht. So, i am not sure promoters are not interested in mizik mizik. Tout moun ki konin konpa ap fanatik mizik mizik

Wil,

I wouldn't say they're overrated, I think you mean they get too much press for a severely underproduced band. 20 years and three albums and a few produced tracks here and there is a mere hobby not a band....

Mizik Mizik is a great band but whave they been doing lately? I think that's where Wilcolas is coming from. Maestro Fabrice said it on KM that they have a lot of songs ready but why can't we get an album?

Like Kunta said, they left the door open for such criticism.

Maestro Fabrice nap tan Cd a.

BTW Wilcolas, they were one of the top bands in the mid 90s.

NO, NO, NO Mizik Mizik is not overrated by any standard...

Everytime they drop an album, you can expect them to bring something new, something different, something creative and still MAKE THE HITS List.

Call them LAZY (with MIZIK MIZIK) but not overrated.

P.S. I know Fabrice, Keke and ERIC CHARLES work in about 60% of all projects that come out of HAITI.

Jesus christ!!! What???? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

De ger came out in 93... and La bande a Rouzier and Keke dominated the year... every local school had them on their program, and they've dominated the carnival era with "Nou de Ger" and "Bale Rouze" 93 and 94..that's it... Their second LP "Ki moun ou ye" had the mega hit "Weber" and the buck stopped here...
94 a year dominated by Sweet Micky, Phantoms...

now we can give too much credit to Tabou... but you are not afraid to use such word as" Mizik Mizik was the top performer in the 90's" Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
Fabrice and Keke are probably the most creative hard working men as producers.. but when it comes to mizik mizik... they have not pushed it to the limit... nothing wrong with that..

MIZIK-MIZIK DE GUERRE Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation
Se sou yon chaise mwen te konn kanp fe tout nuit lan.

Also please do not confuse QUANTITY and QUALITY. ONE excellent song is woth way more than 5 average ones. Because in a very short period of time your averages will be forgotten but that one song will live through generations on end.

I see that now a lot of the analysis that are made in our Industry is base on what is going on here in the states mostly but don't forget that it is only after the embargo in the late 90's that our music base changed scenery from if you are big in Haiti then you're the it to now if you haven't done anything abroad then you haven't proven yourself.
