The official ceremony of transfer to transfer power to the new President of Haiti in its cost is $4.5 million dollars.

This is according to a recent article by Jacqueline Charles of the Miami Herald who spoke with a government official.

Some 2,500 guests including 150 foreign dignitaries including the President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel R. Fernandez, the President of Honduras, Suriname, and Head of French diplomacy Alain Juppe and Former U.S. President Bill Clinton... are expected in Port-au-Prince, one of 10 cities in Haiti where cultural events are planned.

It is unlikely that all eight surviving Haitian Presidents attend the event, continued article. The former President Leslie Manigat, whose wife Mirlande H. Manigat was beaten in the elections by Joseph Michel Martelly, is not expected to be present. Henry Namphy and Jean-Bertrand Aristide, returned from exile, will keep a low profile says the Florida newspaper.

The invitation to the ceremony of the dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, who entered the country in January 2011, caused s storm with national organizations for the defense of human rights who expressed "outrage."

This invitation violates the memory of tens of thousands of victims of the dictatorship of the Duvalier and raises questions about the probability that the five-year term of President Martelly begins under the sign of forgetfulness and impunity, writes Jacqueline Charles.

However, Mr. Jean Fritz Louis, one of the leaders of the ceremony extended this invitation to Jean-Claude Duvalier and sees it as an image of "reconciliation" in a country with a troubled, turbulent history. "The image will be good for the country if they (former Presidents) were all there.". "The time has come for us to say this is how we move forward", according to Mr. Jean-Louis, cited by article of the Miami Herald.

In some districts of the metropolitan area of Port - au-Prince, citizens and citizens clean. Here, brush strokes layers of paintings there, trying to give appearance of folk festival to this day, a noted Le Nouvelliste. Posters scattered in busy arteries are visible with a slogan: "President Martelly, victory for the people". And helicopters were also visible in the sky of the capital.

Michel Joseph Martelly, 50 years, will be in less than 24 hours at the head of Haiti, a country severely affected by the earthquake of 12 January which caused the death of more than 200,000 people, according to the balance sheets of the governmental authorities. Tens of thousands of people are still in cities of tents.
