KM spoke to MAC D about.....Well; read below.

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Why don't you tell us what ECLAT is all about?
MACKENDY: "Eclat is a non profit organization, As our motto states, we focus on contributing to the development of various communities. We believe the new generation is the backbone of society where its members thrive to contribute to the betterment of their country. There is no better way to reach out than to give back to them. Also, Eclat, as acronym means: education, collaboration, leadership, assistance, and transformation."

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: How did you end up getting involved?
MACKENDY: "My partners and I used to work together when I used to be in school for business accounting. We have always had ideas about Haiti on how we want to help and bring back to our dear motherland. I, personally wanted to create an orphanage, but I thought of how hard it would be with the kind of work i am doing. Also, what will happen to that orphanage if one day I have no more resources to take care of it.

Furthermore, Sophia, the vice-president, wanted to build a fruit market in the capital where farmers would come straight and sell their products. And this would create some type of autonomy for the farmers because we can see the lack of importance they grant to a farmer in our society in Haiti. After many talks, I came with the idea of creating a nonprofit organization."

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: With such a cause being extremely high in terms of your priorities; is it safe NOT to rule out Mac D. running for political office in the future in order to further push this cause and more?
MACKENDY: "Hahaha! Pat, there is huge nuance between patriot and politician. I, am a patriot and I have been fighting for that cause since 2009, but I never exposed it until now. I know for a fact, it is very in vogue these days; musicians that are running for political office in Haiti and it is not my business. I'm pretty sure if I had exposed "Eclat" the year before, people would have had different thoughts about this movement.

Honestly, I used to think that if you need to bring a change in a society; you had to be some type of authority, politician, celebrity, or a money man. Now, I realize and can acknowledge that a simple person can make a huge difference by what he/she chooses to fight for. For instance; Malcolm x, Mahatma Gandhi, Jean Dominique, Martin Luther King, Muhammad Yunus and many more had fought for the betterment of the world and some of them had even given their lives for others could live free - AND none of them was running for political office. I don't have to be a politician to push this movement. I have a voice and if I scream for help - people will hear me out. "I am a social entrepreneur"."

Thanks Pat and Mac D for the interview. It is nice for people to see the other side of the artist. Now that he speaks out, people will have idea what his organization is about.

For a ‘’ Simple Person ‘’ to make a huge difference, he has to involve himself into the political arena with all the challenges that such implication entails. Mac D is a brother with a big Heart. I had a business in Miami few years back , he was one of the first musicians to come and support. Mac D keep going brother...I'm very proud of You. You're setting a great example. I do hope other HMI stars will follow your foot steps. instead of politicians we need more Patriots.
